A reporter, Marlow, visits an abandoned trailer park to document its last resident, Kurtz. As Marlow approaches Kurtz, a claustrophobic image-laden atmosphere consumes him, making any sort of documentation impossible. Strains of film and video images interweave his pathway to push his experience from narrative to autobiography. His journey is shattered, leading him to the darkest place of all: his own image. This adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s ‘Heart of Darkness’ focuses on interpreting the subjectivity and reflexivity of the story–for it is the darkness within that is most devastating.
