Correction: In Round 2, the answer for question 8 was presented incorrectly. Both contestants gave the correct answer and were awarded 10 points each.

I don’t think I can watch this show anymore. How is it that the questions were more coherent & grammatically correct when a Dutchman was writing them??
Thank you for your feedback towards the Smartest Iowan program. Our volunteers and staff participating in creating the program have been informed of your comment.
There are several goals we work towards in providing this local public trivia show. We try to allow a valuable opportunity for volunteers and interns to learn broadcast and video production. For the viewer and contestants, we strive to provide a show that is interactive, educational, and entertaining. As well, we are always working on ways to improve the overall production and presentation of the program.
Naturally, the expectation in creating questions for the show is to have them as accurate, interesting, and fair as they can be. The colloquial style of questions is designed to appeal to a broad audience demographic. Like any trivia show, there are occasionally cited errors. With the live July 22 episode an error was made by misrepresenting a correct answer. The error was caught immediately, and both contestants were awarded points for their correct responses. We have reviewed the situation and are working to resolve the issue for future episodes of the program.
We hope we have not lost you as a fan of our show. Your feedback is always welcome. In future episodes look forward to improvements as we continue to present the Iowa City community’s favorite game show.
